Pottery

This is Roman samian pottery, this fragment would once have been a drinking cup. This piece is the base of the cup and still clearly shows the stamp which identifies the potter and place the pottery was made. In this case the potter is called 'ATILIANUS' and the pot was made at 'Lezoux' in Gaul (France), between the years 170ad - 190ad. Other pieces of this potters work have been found on an old ship wreck called 'Pudding Pan Rock' off the coast of Kent.
